Biofeedback
Biofeedback refers to techniques and skills that offer unique insights into the relationship between brain and body control. By using technology to measure biological functions such as breathing and heart rate in real-time, our team can improve the regulation of the nervous system through guided practice. In particular, certain breathing and heart rate patterns are linked to increased activity of the sympathetic nervous system (such as the “Fight, Flight, or Freeze” response) which impacts a wide range of conditions including pain, cognition, inflammation, and emotional health. Our providers practice top-down control with clients to consciously direct breathing and heart rate, reducing over-activation of the sympathetic nervous system to promote better mind-body balance and health outcomes.
At The Integrated Clinic, Dr. Aliyah Snyder, Dr. Nate Ewigman, and Dr. Sarah Greif provide biofeedback services.
