Marc Heiser, MD, PhD is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who is committed to providing the highest quality care to individuals and families. He has extensive experience treating a wide range of psychiatric issues including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, PTSD, substance use disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism spectrum disorder.  He also has expertise in mindfulness-based stress reduction, cognitive behavioral therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, ketamine therapy, and in the care of individuals exploring their gender identity.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Heiser has extensive experience in basic and translational neuroscience research. His research has focused on auditory processing and neuroplasticity, social cognition, the mirror neuron system, and psychiatric disorders using modalities such as electrophysiology, functional neuroimaging (fMRI), and transcranial magnetic stimulation. His work has been published in scientific journals including Proceedings of The National Academy of Sciences, Neuron, and the Journal of Neuroscience. He has received awards from UCLA for compassionate clinical care of children, and from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation for his research.

Dr. Heiser received a BA from UC Berkeley in English and Molecular and Cell Biology.  He then entered the Medical Scientist Training Program at UC San Francisco where he received a PhD in neuroscience and an MD. He completed residency in General Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UCLA. He currently holds teaching appointments at UCLA and Charles Drew University School of Medicine.  

At The Integrated Clinic, Dr. Heiser provides psychiatric, psychotherapeutic, sleep, and behavioral treatments to children, adolescents, and adults.
