PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER
Taylor Small is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in psychiatric mental health across the lifespan. Her experience includes working in a psychiatric outpatient setting with youth suffering from a range of psychological conditions and substance abuse disorders. Before specializing in psychiatry, she spent seven years working as a Pediatric Registered Nurse at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and The Johns Hopkins Hospital in areas such as Cardiac ICU, Burn Trauma, and Pediatric Medical/Surgical specialties.
Taylor brings a holistic approach towards treating her clients. She uses a combination of diagnostic assessment, client interviewing, and the most up-to-date evidence-based practice to create personalized treatment plans. Taylor has a warm and welcoming personality which allows clients to feel safe and comfortable expressing their concerns. Previous clients have described Taylor as nurturing, thoughtful, and kind. She employs empathetic listening and flexibility to adapt to each client's personal wants and needs.
Taylor received a Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University in Child Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner education at Azusa Pacific University. Throughout graduate school, Taylor conducted research and administered training at several outpatient centers focusing on dual-diagnosis treatment and education in youth. Taylor also spent a year working with patients experiencing treatment-resistant schizophrenia and conducted research in developing the most beneficial treatment modalities for this patient population.
In her free time, Taylor enjoys doing puzzles, going on hikes with her three dogs, and spending time with her family.
At The integrated Clinic, Taylor provides psychiatry services for patients with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, autism, and emotion dysregulation. She has experience as a psychiatric provider in multiple outpatient settings (RTC, PHP, and IOP) with children and adolescents.
