Dr. Lauren Couch is a licensed psychologist who specializes in psychological and behavioral therapy for children and adolescents. She has extensive experience providing therapy to youth with neurodevelopmental differences and to their families.

Dr. Couch has a specialized therapeutic skillset, applying cognitive and behavioral strategies to youth, while also assisting parents in understanding, supporting, and guiding their children. She provides evidence-based psychotherapy to address a range of concerns, including disruptive behavior, tantrums, aggression, toilet training difficulties, elopement, pica, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, Dr. Couch has experience treating children with medical complexities, including epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and gastrointestinal disorders, as well as neurodevelopmental disabilities.

Dr. Couch brings a rich understanding of how to support children and adolescents across school, home, and clinic contexts. She consults with providers across disciplines and settings, creating collaborative relationships between all professionals that work with children and their families.

Dr. Couch received her Bachelor Degree from the University of California, Irvine, in both Economics and Psychology before obtaining her PhD in Education with a specialization in School Psychology from the University of California, Riverside. During her time at UCR, she developed a range of clinical and research experiences, including evaluating the effectiveness of a bullying prevention program, providing mental health services within clinical and school settings, and participating in an intensive practicum within the Neurobehavioral Unit at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Dr. Couch completed both her doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in the Pediatric Developmental Disabilities Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Couch is passionate about providing evidence-based services to children and families. She continues to conduct applied research in a clinical setting, supervises psychology trainees in a pediatric care setting, and serves as a lecturer within the School Psychology doctoral program at UCR.
