Educational Therapist

Dana Berlin is an educational therapist, whose 20-year career in education spans both the teaching and administrative worlds. She is a passionate child advocate, who believes connection, humor, and relationship are a crucial foundation for learning. She enjoys working with families to support all facets of their children’s education: from individual educational therapy and academic enrichment sessions to advising parents on the school selection and application process.

Dana discovered a passion for education at the University of Virginia. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Teaching degrees at UVA’s Curry School of Education. From there, Dana accepted a teaching position at an all-boys independent school in New York City. During her eight-year tenure, Dana taught first grade and concurrently served on the school’s admission committee, conducting individual interviews and assessments and making acceptance recommendations.

In 2012, Dana moved west to work at an independent school on the westside of Los Angeles. After teaching across grade levels for that first year, she transitioned to an administrative role as Director of Admissions and Special Projects. In addition to managing the application and enrollment process, she interviewed countless incoming parents and students and guided the assessment and review processes for preschool through 8th grade. From there, she became the Principal for Preschool through 4th grade, overseeing the early childhood and lower school divisions.

In 2020, seeing Covid’s particularly disruptive impact on younger learners, Dana made the shift to designing and implementing a pod schooling program for local first grade children. Outside of the pod, she worked with students ranging in age from preschool to high school on literacy acquisition, math, essay writing, history, science, and social studies. Working so closely with these families during an uncertain time ignited a desire to continue to serve parents and children in finding the best possible educational solutions. At The Integrated Clinic, Dana provides educational therapy and academic enrichment, administers academic assessments, and advises families on school selection and placement.

Dana lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two daughters, and dogs. She enjoys hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains, traveling (with ever so slightly less adventurous itineraries now with toddlers in tow), and finding peaceful moments with a good book.
